Zsa Zsa Zsu

Don't you just loveeeeee some Carrie Bradshaw?? I have fell more in love with Sex and the City in the past few years... maybe because they play episodes back to back on two different channels!

Watching re-runs has been making my obsession with all four ladies grow tremendously, but more-so with Carrie than the rest of em! Her style... her whitty humor... the way she analyzes men and relationships, and most importantly the way she makes writing look so chic!

In each episode, she has an intense moment alone where she is deep in thought as she comes up with a question or catch phrase. And that's the moment I swoon over! It seriously makes me want to sit nearside my window while I blog (check), sipping on a martini/glass of wine/cup of coffee or orange juice (check), smoking a cigarette (NO check there, but it's so Carrie Bradshaw!), and thinking about a way to interpret my life with a cute little catch phrase using, "Zsa Zsa Zsu."

Blogging has been superb for me... I get to write whatever I want about the happs in life, and read tons of other life stories. The process of blogging is actually really relaxing too... sitting at my nice glass desk near my window with shear curtains, while I sip on something with a few lit candles... sometimes a fresh bouquet of flowers nearside me... ahh yea!! I just hope you're having as much fun blogging as Carrie has with writing her columns!

As Carrie described the excitement of having butterflies in your tummy when you are passionately in love (or lust) with someone, I can't help but wonder.... is blogging my new Zsa Zsa Zsu?

Fall Love

What I love about fall...
I love the various colors or orange, red, green, and yellow I witness on the streets
I love the Halloween decorations on each house with completely different styled porches
I love that it's okay to drink hot chocolate at any point in the day
I love that the leaves on the ground make a gorg flooring, and...
I love that I don't own my own home yet which means that I don't have to rake any of em up!
I love that everything is pumpkin... coffee, ice cream, pie, candles... errrrrythang pumpkin!
I love that we even have a fall in this state... being from Cali we only have summers with occasional days of rain

When the rain clears, and the sky turns blue with big fluffy white clouds, Oregon isn't so bad after all!
There's plenty I can complain about the fall, but today I choose to love and be grateful for this life I live in!

Get your motors runnin'

Happy Monday FUNday!! Hope you all had a fantab weekend! Hubs and I had some superb QT this weekend... after all it was our first weekend alone in awhile, thanks to him not traveling to our away game in WA.

During our weekend adventure, we ran into a Harley Davidson exhibit! I loveeee seeing Harleys lined up in a row... even if it's in the middle of a mall!

ANY time I see or hear a Harley, I immediately think of my Pops! He's a true biker at heart... has been riding way before my time, and to this day! I remember when I was little, he used to bungee cord me to his back while I sat on the back of his Harley for a long ride on the freeway! When he leaned to turn the bike, I would lean too (sometimes too much, which he would yell back to me to relax on the leaning!)... When he put his arm up to signal a right or left hand turn, I would copy him and put my arm up too (I got so good at signaling that he would promote me to give the signal alone!)... Before taking off on a ride, we would sing Born to be Wild getting ourselves pumped, especially while singing, "Get chya motors runninnnn.... HEAD OUT ON THE HIGHWAYYYY..." Ohhhh the good ol' days with the Red Rooster!

I used to loveeee seeing my dad's friends line up all their Harleys in front of the house... in front of work... in front of wherever we were!

See that my friends...That's the Red Rooster... the 1969 Police Special Harley my Pops built from scratch! If I only inherited his motorcycle specialty skills!

NOW... my LLL's of the week!

LOVE
I love the QT I get with my hubs... I cherish every moment I spend with him as if we were first dating back in college!

LEARN
I learned that a true Beaver Believer goes through the high's and the low's with the Beavs... even through our depressing loss against the Huskies on Saturday, which broke our winning undefeated streak. BUT we shall redeem ourselves this weekend at the home game!

LAUGH
I thought it was hysterical when I was trying to explain a joke to my husband... to a point that he didn't even understand the words coming out of my mouth because I was laughing SOOO hard! Hence my tweet...

What were your LLL's of the week?

Hello Sunshine!!

It's days like these where I don't mind waking up in Oregon. We get a break from the rain until Saturday, and I am OH so excited!!

All this talk lately about change, fear and everything else I've been feeling lately... Welp, long story short, hubs and I are looking into changing our scenery soon... which means counting down our days in this beautiful nature-filled state. I can't say what, where or when we're checking out, but what I can share is that we are surely taking in all this clean air, and appreciating every second of it!  I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!

Happy Thursday friends!!

HOT then I'm COLD...

Yes then I'm no... In then I'm out... Up then I'm down.... Katy Perry couldn't have put it any better!

I'm hot... yes... in... up when...
  • I squeeze my hubs after he tells me how great he thinks I am
  • My family comes up to visit for a game (and they'll keep on coming up every other weekend for the rest of the football season!)
  • I have convo's on the phone with my gooooorl frannnds "just cause"
  • My mornings start off with a nice hot sweaty bootcamp workout
I'm cold... no... out... down when...
  • I get home sick while my hubs works long hours and I'm home alone
  • I think about wanting and needing my full-time career NOW
  • It rains all day every day and I have to cover up in 3 jackets to keep warm when walking the doggies
  • I think about change a-comin' really soon, and get anxious, then excited, then scurred... then down...

BUT... it's the words of wisdom that keep me going... from Pinterest, my family, my friends, my loved ones, and most of all my husband! And getting things out on my bloggy blog definitely helps! I did so on this post... and this one too! I know it will be alright as long as I keep one foot in front of the other, and keep movin' about my ways!

Linking up with Michelle at The Vintage Apple for OHP, here are some of the wonderful words of wisdom Pinterest has been inspiring me with!

Black & Orange... Black & Orange...

Boy, what a weekend it was for us here in Corvallis!! Hubs and I had family over, and that's always a fantab time for us!!

The Beavs also pulled another WIN (hence my title!), and moved up a spot in the AP polls!! We are now ranked #7 at 6-0! This is amazing to witness here in this small college football town, especially since we are now bowl eligible which we haven't been in the past two years!! All I have to say is GO BEAVS, and GO #77!!

Since I didn't catch you guys yesterday, here are my LLL's of the week...

LOVE
I love my husband SO much. He has been super supportive of me all my life, even through a long hard day of work! He's been my cheerleader through thick and thin, and always has the right thing to say in my time of need!

LEARN
I know life is full of changes... I've posted about it many times (here and even there). What I've learned this week is that it's not the changes that make a difference... it's how we deal with them. We have a choice to either reject the situation and be stuck in misery, or accept the change and move on. I choose to accept it and as Josh WaWa White sings, MOVIN' ABOUT MY WAYS!

LAUGH
I had a great chukkle when my sister sent me a text with this picture of our little brother! She said, "he wanted me to show you his purple mustache, and that he's saving some for later!" I love how he never makes sense, yet he's so smart!

What are your LLL's of the week?

High Five Friday!

Woo to the flippin' hooooo!!! Friday, I love you!! Another chance to give praise to the week by highlighting my top five faves of the week! Linking up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk, here's a super duper High Five for Friday!

:: one ::
This past Saturday, the Beavs went 5-0... a record we haven't seen since 1939!! Andddddd we did it with our 2nd string quarterback (Cody Vaz) who played his first Beaver game and brought us the victory!

:: two ::
We were blessed with two full days of sunshine this week!! Brisk but blissful!
:: three ::
Tried a new recipe that was a hit this week!!

:: four ::
I have been working my tail off this week on condensing my dissertation into a shorter version to submit to a journal for publication. Oh, what an experience this has been. Trying to condense a 175 page dissertation to a 25 page manuscript is QUITE a task... but an experience that I am loving!

:: five ::
My cousin is visiting from home, and I'm excited to share a weekend of football and more football with her. Oh yea... and tons of rain!

What's been the happs with your week?? Link up with Lauren for a H54F!

Soup for the Soul

I've really been pushing my limits this week... getting around to a DIY project with the pumpkins, and today, I'm sharing a new recipe I tried last night that was out of control scrummy in our tummy!

Although the sun has been glistening half of Tuesday and all day yesterday, it's still in the low 60's and even colder in the early morning and evening times! Since the summer heat has simmered down, I've been craving nothing but HOT food! And what's hotter than a big pot of steaming soup?!

I snatched this recipe from one of my fave online recipe websites introduced to me by a gal pal of mine called skinnytaste.com! I haven't shared the deets of my story with you all, but I've been a Lifetime Weight Watchers member for years! So the fact that ALL of these recipes have weight watcher points calculated in them makes me just swoon! This particular recipe was super easy, with basic ingredients, and it didn't take long at all! You can find the Chicken Pot Pie Soup recipe here.

The ingredients basically consists of tons of veggies, chicken, and herbs! After boiling, simmering, and whisking... ta da! It actually looks like SOUP!

There's also a recipe for garlic cheddar biscuits that's on skinnytaste.com that would be superb with this soup, but I opted for less cooking that day, and bought some sourdough bread bowls from the supermarket. I loved how they had an easy cut-out middle that was outlined in the bread bowl, which you can see in the "before" picture below. I took a knife and cut along the lines, and it just scooped right out!

What are your comfort recipes for the fall? Have any good recipe sites that you use? Do share!
