Over the River and Through the Woods!

Hellllloooo Tuesday! In yesterday's post, I mentioned that I had to break up God's Country into sections since we covered a lot of ground while in Kipahulu. Here's the continuation from that post... I'll try and not write so much since there are tons of pictures to get through!

There were no stores nearby... just fruit stands, and tons of em! Here's one that not only had delish fruit, but they also hosted Taco Tuesday, and Pizza Friday! No joke... Tuesday we passed by and there looked like the entire side of the island was indulging on some scrum tacos!

This day, we went on a S I X and a half hour hike! This was the beginning of the adventure... notice our smiles as we had no clue how much walking in ROCK SHOES the day was going to bring us!

The start of the 7 Sacred Pools...

After hiking the bottom half of the Haleakala National Park, we decided to head UP hill to what they said was the most beautiful waterfall ever existed! SOOOO...A hiking we shall go. This was our first pit stop... beautiful big bodacious tree!

It was funny because each time we asked someone passing us by, "How much longer?" we got a response of 45 minutes.. 20 minutes... you're almost there... all responses that held no truth! This hike was about an hour and a half to the waterfall! The scenery kept it quite interesting though!

Here's the bamboo forest we passed through. Listening to the bamboos hitting each other made a sweet sound that entertained our hike!

All to get to this beauty! As everyone else raved, THE BEST WATERFALL I'VE EVER SEEN!

After hiking, we struggled with the never ending road that took us back to The Cariad! Man, what a hike that was in wet rock shoes! We stuffed our faces when we did get home, took hot showers, and crashed!

The next day, the lovely caretaker and his girlfriend took us on a hike through private property that neighbored The Cariad... stunning I tell ya!

Passed 7 different pools of fresh waters and rocks... to get to THIS gorg pool!! And yes... it totes came with the rope which was SO much fun!

Remember I mentioned Mele saving us??Well, here she is!! Right when we jumped the rope and hit the water, she swam to us and waited for us to get a hold of her as she reeled us back to the rocks!

The next day, we hit Homoa Beach... the BEST beach we visited while in Maui! It was a short but sweet trip, as the thick dark clouds started to roll in. We couldn't risk staying there while the clouds came out since we took Hana Highway... the tinniest road in all of land which is also where it was common to have flash flood warnings!

Here we are attempting to body surf the waves!

Best shot of the day goes to Paul (BIL) with Mark's expertise photography skills!!!

Friday as we headed back into town (near the airport), we took Hana Highway and stopped as much as we could to capture the amazing landscapes surrounding us!

Tried to keep the words at a minimum, but I had to talk story small kine! haha

A few more posts left on Maui... one being the wedding day, which will be THURSDAY!! Yessssss, I finally got em in the mail! WOOOOOOOP!
